How to Overcome Shyness

Being shy can vary from serious to easy and to miss effects.  Shyness may affect you in such a way where you may have difficulties in making new friends, enjoying social activities and performing well at work.  In this era where networking is very important, it will be hard for you to do so if shyness is a problem for you.  Apart from that, shyness can also have some health effects such as anxiety and stress which may cause a lower immune system.
Point blank: Being shy will hold you up not only in your career but socially as well.

How to overcome your shyness??? Shybusters coaching can change the way you see yourself and communicate.  It's worth investing in yourself to become the communicator you want to be.  There are some programs which you can follow and thanks to technology, you can  even have a one on one Skype coaching!

There is also a trial email program for those who want to get to know each other first. Technology keeps changing but the way we communicate face to face is still very much in style and is not going anywhere.  So, if you are one of the shy readers of my blog, do visit Shybusters so that they may help you to overcome your shyness!

How Many Hours Should There Be In A Day?

24 hours a day may be enough or may be not enough for a person.  If a person complaints and say that 24 hours a day is not enough and it should be 25 hours a day, will 1 hour make a difference? Even if we have 30 or 40 hours a day, it may still not be enough for some of us.  It’s not about how many hours a day there should be, but how we should use, appreciate and manage our time in a day.
Time is gold as they say.  Once wasted, it will not come back.  So, 24 hours a day is enough for everyone.  You just got to manage your time.  If you’re a student and busy with some other stuffs when you got a test the next day, you just have to find the time to study.  Never say there’s not enough time in a day.

What's Happening To Our Kids???

This is how life today has changed... This is how the world is today... Science, technology and ICT have  advanced to make life much easier but at the same time  has its bad effects... People text, wish you good luck or send birthday wishes via text messaging, Facebook, wedding announcement via Twitter and all that mobile apps you have.... Well, in a way, it is good since that is much easier to reach people even all over the world but the "feel" of really meeting someone in person or talking over the phone is no more there. See, technology has its good and bad side. For business people wanting to expand their business over the horizon, these technologies and social networking are important to them.. But have we stopped to think about how it is affecting our kids...?? May be some of this picture will let you pause and think for awhile. Do leave a comment on how you feel about this issue.

What is PELTAC?

Professional, Engineering, Leadership, Teamwork and Awareness Camp

It’s only RM 119 (from the original price of RM 350). Such seminars cost a few hundres or thousand dollars outside. This is our one and only chance to get good quality speakers wilth the small amount of money that we are paying. Why so cheap then??? We find sponsors and we get special rates from speakers as you are our special participant. If you miss this chance, you’ll miss it for your life! Attend this camp and you obtain critical skills for life!

Not an engeering student?
It’s not  a big deal! We are not an engineering camp either!! We’re not going to teach you engineering subjects!!! The only engineering we offer is to reengineer you life. Reeingineer your Future. Reengineer your Spirit.

I’ll wait for my friends/I’ll think about it…
There’s NO TIME for that!! This is the guideline for your bright future. You decide what you want to do. For PELTAC, places are limited. So, better hurry up as there are a lot of people who are waiting to register. Furthermore, we want you to meet new friends! Expand your network. Share your thoughts with new friends.

So, what’s exactly special about this camp?
Been there, is that as same as other motivational camp? Nope… PELTAC is a unique motivational camp. The best camp held in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) every year! For your information, this is the 13th camp since 1998. We provide great programs throughout the 6 days 5 nights camp! We are even preparing extreme sports for you such as canoeing and horse-riding! This is a great opportunity. We’ve been through it and that’s why we are here talking to you as we want you to be part of the big PELTAC family! We want everyone to bring out the best in themselves.

The whole theme Arise, Shine and Impact to Leap Beyond the Impossible suggests that one should come out from one’s past that is keeping one from moving forward, to learn from the past and make the past be a stepping stone for one to lead a better future. Hence, with this plus the five elements of PELTAC which is Professional, Engineering, Leadership, Teamwork and Awareness will help PELTAC participants to integrate and apply these elements in their daily life so that they may be an example and stand out to the people around them.

In PELTAC 2012, we hope that you will transform and take this opportunity to learn and polish the five elements of PELTAC whether you already have it or not. We also hope that with PELTAC 2012 you will have the confidence and believe to take one step ahead to achieve the impossible.

PDF Help Tools

One of the easiest documents for viewing is usually in PDF format. PDF simply stands for Portable Document Format. Here are some tools related to PDF which I usually use.

If you're using Microsoft Office Word 2007 or higher, you can convert you word document into PDF from MS Word itself. When you save your file in MS Word, simply click Save As or just click Save and a diolog box will appear. The first section is the file name and below that is the file type. Click the dorp down menu and you will see that you can save your file in many other format and one of it is in PDF form. If you do not have PDF shown, yI think you have to install a MS Word plugin to enable you to save in PDF.

  Click picture to enlarge

For this, I use the online converter available at http://www.pdfonline.com/pdf-to-word-converter/I haven't been able to find an offline converter that is not a free trial or a demo. So, I simply use the online converter.
*NOTE: This converter will only convert PDF nicely to Word doc if the original source was from a MS Word. If not, it will still be converted to MS Word, but it may not be as you expected. But it's worth a try though!

CutePDF is a free software you can download here. The use of this is simply to save paper or make your printing easier. For example, if you want to print a webpage, you can print it via CutePDF (which will actually save the document in PDF before you can print it). This will be much easier. Or, if you just want to save the document in PDF without printing it, you can also do that.

Well, happy trying and using the free stuff available for all of us! ENJOY AND HAVE A NICE DAY!

Well, after all laughter is the best medicine and research show that people who laugh at least once a day has a better health. Here's some user's on Twitter who tweet interesting quotes (from my perspective). I follow some and maybe you might want to follow too if you find it interesting.

Say YES To Marriage, NO To Divorce!

Personally, I simple love weddings... I have no idea why.. Maybe because of the sweet and beautiful or rather romantic setting of the whole occasion. But mostly, I actually love the uniting of two people. And because I love the unity, I hate the separation.

Think about it, the first time you met your girl/guy, it felt like floating on air. Like you were on the clouds and it's like only the two of you mattered in this whole world... Then, you get married, exchange your vows and seal the covenant of matrimony with God.

Why Ships Float?

Have you ever thought why a small stone sinks in water while a big ship can stay afloat in the sea? Well, physics can explain this.

In 212 BC, Archimedes who was a Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, inventor and astronomer discovered a principle, now known as the Archimedes’ Principle which states that “for a body immersed wholly or partially in a fluid, the upward force (known as the buoyant force) acting on the body is equal to the weight of fluid displaced by it.”

This means that if a wooden block of 600g is placed in water and only half the block sinks in water, the weight of the water displaced is equal to the weight of block immersed in water which is 300g.

Weight of the object immersed in water = weight of water displaced

Therefore, this principle of floatation is used to explain any objects that float in a liquid. Questions like why ice float in your drink, why stone sinks in water and why a ship floats on water can be explained using this principle.

You see, a stone sinks in water because its density is much higher than water which has a density of 1000 kg per meter cube. However, even though a ship is heavy and has a much higher density than water, it can float due to its hollow shape which displace large amount of water as a result which the buoyant force is enough to support its weight.

When more loads are added to the ship, it must sink more so as to displace more water. To prevent overloading, a plimsoll line is marked on its body to show the maximum depth the portion of ship that can be immersed in water. The plimsoll line functions as an indication to the level of danger as the density of sea water varies with location.

A ship will be submerged deeper in fresh water because its density of fresh water is less than sea water. For this reason, ship will have to displace more water to obtain sufficient buoyant force to support its weight. A ship can float higher in cold seasons as cold water had a higher density.

So, now you know why a ship can stay afloat compared to a small stone that sinks. Basically, the shape and overall density of an object are important factors in determining its ability to float.

"Almost everything you do comes with risks."

What exactly is a risk? A risk can be defined as a probability of incurring loss or misfortune. This risk that we are talking about always exists almost everywhere especially in times of decision making. Some risks require us to try first before we know the results.
And here it is: If we never try, we never know. If we’re scared to take the risk, we will never get what we want. Without risks, we will never get experiences that we might want to keep for a lifetime. To take a risk means to face consequences with a brave heart. Risks eventually make us a better person as it makes us ready to take much higher risks in the future. We learn from taking risks. Sometimes.....[more]

How To Refer / Link To A Website Using HTML coding

Let say you upload a picture to a picture sharing website and you get the html codes similar to the one below (I used Imageshack).

The site automatically generates the html code similar to the one below and all you have to do is just copy and paste the code to anywhere the accepts html coding. Let's say you have something like this:

Now, let's say you paste that code in you blog so that the picture appears in your blog. But now you want that picture to redirect to you online store when someone clicks on it.
So, what you need to do is to look for the href and edit that part. Let's say I want it to be redirected to my online store. (The one in blue is what you're supposed to edit.)

Compare the first and the second code... What differs the two is the URL/web address at the href section.
